Djeran 2024: All action at the second rehabilitation site!
Djeran (autumn) was a busy time at the Riverdale Rd restoration site. Field visits to learn about aquatic ecology were conducted by Harvey Senior High School and also the staff from the Shire of Waroona, who also helped Murdoch scientists out with the third pre-restoration ecological survey. This was immediately followed by the installation of the ‘Fish Hotels’ coordinated by OzFish Unlimited with help from Waroona Men's Shed and students from the WA College of Agriculture - Harvey. Check out the local news story here.
A truly remarkable collaboration all coordinated by the Harvey River Restoration Taskforce!
The installation day was overseen by members of the Harvey Aboriginal Corporation and attended by the Honorable Simone McGurk (Minister for Water) and local Member for Murray-Wellington Robyn Clarke along with staff from the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, Shire of Waroona, Alcoa Foundation, Harvey Ag. College, OzFish Unlimited, Peel-Harvey Catchments Council and Murdoch University.
